Land Analyst

Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.

The Land Analyst provides support within the Land and Land Administration departments.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain lease records, incorporating lease amendments and extensions.
  • Create and maintain contract records, including applying and monitoring obligations, to ensure contract compliance.
  • Analyze and interpret title opinions, contracts, leases and lease amendments.
  • Review title opinions, address title curative issues and requests.
  • Create and maintain records for producing properties, incorporating title documentation, contract requirements, state statutes and lease obligations.
  • Support the AFE process, preparing information for distribution, monitoring elections and document retention.
  • Independently research and resolve complex inquiries and issues related to DOI ownership and payments.
  • Process changes in ownership for leases and producing property records.
  • Create reports for and provide support to monthly internal reporting processes.
  • Establish and cultivate strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with audit processes, as well as other Land projects as needed.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with an in-house Oil & Gas Operator, Land and Lease Administration Department.
  • Land and lease systems experience, with BOLO experience preferred.
  • Background in title analysis including interpretation of title opinions, contracts, assignments and maps.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong working knowledge of government regulations and policies regarding land related operations.
  • Knowledge of fee, state and federal oil and gas lease agreements.
  • Exhibits the ability to interpret and apply terms of complex agreements.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Effective organizational and time management skills, demonstrating an ability to organize and manipulate data in a detailed and logical format.
  • Professional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Flexible with changing business environment and processes.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Estimated pay range: $90,000–$120,000 (depending upon experience of the successful candidate)
