Senior Reservoir Engineer
Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.
The successful candidate in the position will be responsible for working closely with geology, operations, and other disciplines to innovate and optimize development of the asset to maximize cash flows and generate reserve value. The candidate should have the ability to leverage data driven approaches to enhance reservoir performance and support operational excellence. The candidate will be expected to focus heavily on teamwork and collaboration with all disciplines in the company to ensure constant alignment with the corporate strategy and core values
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct and refine rate transient analysis to evaluate reservoir performance and predict future behavior alongside decline curve analysis
- Analyze historical production data and well performance to optimize development plans
- Collaborate with geology and engineering to integrate data into reservoir models to enhance asset understanding and performance
- Perform decline curve analysis and economic evaluations to assess reservoir profitability. Coordinate with production engineers to ensure alignment and accuracy of production profiles
- Lead the reserves process and manage inputs used to generate quarterly evaluations
- Coordinate with banks during the RBL process and with auditors during year-end reserves
- Develop and maintain databases for reservoir engineering data
- Generate visualizations and reports using Spotfire to communicate findings effectively
- Provide technical support and guidance to field operations teams to ensure reservoir management objectives are met
- Provide technical advisory to management, offering insights on best practices, emerging trends, and risk mitigation
- Stay updated with industry best practices and recommend innovative new strategies
- Work closely with reservoir engineering technicians in support roles

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in reservoir engineering within upstream oil and gas
- Permian Basin experience preferred

- Able to efficiently analyze complex economics with strong understanding of reserve classification definitions, economic modeling, and fair market value metrics
- Able to think creatively to enhance reservoir potential
- Experience in creating visualizations and dashboards using Spotfire
- Solid understanding of reservoir simulation, RTA, and modeling techniques
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Expertise in Excel and Aries required
- Proficiency in Access, Spotfire, and Enersight preferred
Compensation and Benefits
- Estimated pay range: $165,000 – $205,000 (depending upon experience of the successful candidate)

Most of the job is done in an office setting. Field travel required 10–15%; adverse weather conditions may exist. Variable work hours including nights and weekends.
