Senior Revenue Accountant
Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.
Under the direction of the Revenue Manager, the Senior Revenue Accountant’s primary responsibility will be to process revenues and apply severance taxes related to operated and non-operated revenues and prepare related revenue accruals and cash entries. This includes but is not limited to: applying revenue deductions based on contracts for gathering, compression, transportation, and other post production costs; reviewing division of interest changes; processing owner suspense reallocations received from Land Department; and reconciling relevant general ledger accounts.
Primary Responsibilities
- Monthly Revenue Processes and Reporting
- Review purchaser contracts and apply contract terms to accruals and purchaser receipts.
- Record revenue into the Bolo accounting system
- Prepare monthly revenue and general ledger journal vouchers
- Prepare monthly revenue accrual
- Perform lookback analyses and prepare explanations for variances
- Perform monthly volume and pricing trend analysis and prepare explanations for variances
- Perform gas plant meter statement reconciliation and analysis
- Tax and regulatory reporting and filings, may be required to assist, prepare, file and/or review:
- Monthly state royalty reports
- Monthly, quarterly and annual state production tax reports
- Quarterly and annual state withholding reports
- Ensure timely payment of all taxes and royalty
- Ensure timely governmental filings and reporting
- Verify that all tax incentives have been applied for and are being used
- Audits
- Coordinate severance tax audits
- Coordinate other revenue audits as necessary
- Provide information and records as requested to external auditors
- Contracts and Compliance
- Review contracts and coordinate resolving any issues with Controller and Revenue Accounting Manager
- Maintain Contract Summary with printed copies and digital references to all contracts
- Review governmental regulations to ensure compliance
- Other
- Provide accurate reports and analyses
- Perform special projects as required
- Interface with other departments in preparation of accruals, various reports and analysis
- Perform research and formulate recommendations as appropriate
- Understand overall areas of responsibility and recommend changes to policies, procedures and processes as appropriate
Education and Experience
- Eight or more years of experience in oil and gas revenue accounting
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent
Skills and Knowledge

- Advanced Microsoft Excel spreadsheet skills
- Experience with Microsoft Word
- Bolo accounting software highly desirable
- Excellent fundamental accounting skills; hands on experience with general ledger reconciliations

Compensation and Benefits
- Estimated pay range: $100,000 – $120,000 (depending upon experience of the successful candidate)
