Compressor Technician

Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.

This position will perform trouble shooting, diagnosis, maintenance and repairs on company owned compression packages and other equipment as required.  Provides feedback for the development of operating practices, and forecasts for parts and materials for assigned units.  May assist in other field activities on occasion.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure routine maintenance plan is followed to minimize downtime on all assigned equipment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and practices as spelled out in the Company Safety Handbook.
  • Maintain run time of natural gas compression units at or above 98%.
  • Accurately gather and document data for reports critical to unit operations.
  • Oversee and participate in the setting of new compression packages.
  • Ensure critical spares are maintained in inventory.
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned units and maintain units to provide safe working conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in gas compression preferred.
  • Caterpillar/Ariel certifications and experience strongly preferred.
  • High Pressure Gas Lift type compression experience a plus.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Commitment to Discovery Natural Resources expectations and core values.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Experienced in driving a commercial sized vehicle.
  • Intermediate to expert level diagnostic and repair skills.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communications including training, procedures, technical manuals, and instructions.
  • Ability to be self-managed and work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Willing and able to work extended hours including periodic on call weekends or days-off. 

*Periodic lifting in excess of 50 lbs may be required. Exposure to extremes in temperature. Exposure to high noise levels in excess of 85 dBa requiring hearing protections as well as exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals and materials requiring use of proper PPE.
