Paul Geiger
Chief Executive Officer
Paul Geiger joined Discovery as CEO in 2021. Prior to Discovery, Mr. Geiger served as the Chief Operating Officer for HighPoint Resources where he was responsible for planning and directing the operations and technical activity. Additionally, Mr. Geiger held leadership roles at Southwestern Energy, Quantum Resources Management, Anadarko, Howell Petroleum and Burlington Resources. With over 25 years of energy industry experience, he has held a variety of engineering and leadership roles in the Permian Basin, Rocky Mountains, Midcontinent, Gulf Coast, Appalachia, and Canada. Mr. Geiger received his BS in Petroleum Engineering and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas.
Scott Hagg
Chief Financial Officer
Scott Hagg joined Discovery in 2013, and currently serves as CFO. In that role, Mr. Hagg oversees Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Treasury, and Procurement. Prior to joining Discovery, Mr. Hagg was Vice President of Finance at the private equity firm Devonshire Investors, where over his 16-year tenure he provided financial analysis and support to several of Devonshire’s portfolio companies, including the start-up of Discovery. Mr. Hagg received a Master of Science degree in Finance from Boston College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from Bridgewater State College.
Kimberly Sands
Director of Development
Kimberly Sands joined Discovery as Director of Development in September 2023. Ms. Sands has over 20 years of industry experience, most recently serving as Manager of Corporate Development at Bison Oil and Gas. Prior to Bison, she worked at PDC Energy and Great Western Petroleum, among other companies, working in positions of increasing responsibility across multiple basins. Ms. Sands began her career as a drilling engineer at BP/Vastar Resources. She holds a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Colorado School of Mines and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver. Ms. Sands is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Colorado.
Greg Ryan
Vice President, Land and Business Development
Greg Ryan joined Discovery in 2013, and currently serves as the Vice President of Land and Business Development, overseeing the land, business development and property administration functions at Discovery. Mr. Ryan began his career as a landman with Exxon in 1984. He has worked in Denver, Tulsa, Midland, and Pittsburg. Mr. Ryan earned his Certified Professional Landman (CPL) certification in 1989.
Jennifer Stoldt
General Counsel
Jennifer Stoldt joined Discovery as General Counsel in 2022. Ms. Stoldt has over 20 years of legal experience, including 10 years of in-house legal experience at E&P companies. Prior to Discovery, Ms. Stoldt was Associate General Counsel at Civitas Resources and its predecessors HighPoint Resources and Bill Barrett Corporation. Ms. Stoldt has a BS in Forest Management from Colorado State University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado.
Matt Schwartz
Director of Operations
Matt Schwartz, Director of Operations, joined Discovery in 2021. Mr. Schwartz previously served as Discovery’s Operations Manager and Drilling and Completions Manager. Mr. Schwartz has over ten years of industry experience, including positions at HighPoint Resources, Bill Barrett Corporation, Scientific Drilling, and Schlumberger. Mr. Schwartz holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Chris Jones
Chief Accounting Officer
Chris Jones, Discovery’s CAO, joined the Company in 2016. Mr. Jones has more than 15 years of experience in the energy industry. Prior to joining Discovery, he worked at a large consumer products company in Colorado. Early in his career, he was a Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Denver, Colorado, and Melbourne Australia, serving publicly traded and private energy upstream and midstream clients. Mr. Jones graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder Leeds’ School of Business, receiving a Master of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Finance, and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Colorado.
Chris Clark
Drilling and Completions Manager
Chris Clark, Discovery’s Drilling and Completions Manager, joined Discovery in 2012. Mr. Clark has held various production engineering roles throughout his tenure at Discovery, including serving as Operations Manager and Senior Production Engineer. Prior to joining Discovery, Mr. Clark was a field production and completions engineer at J-W Operating Company. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University.
Mike Gray
HSE Manager
Mike Gray joined Discovery in 2019 as HSE Manager. Previously, Mr. Gray spent 23 years at Anadarko Petroleum Corporation in various HSE roles, including 8 years as Director of HSE for the Southern and Appalachian Region. Further, Mr. Gray has 15 years of production and HSE experience with Marathon Oil Company. Mr. Gray has a BS from New Mexico State University, and became a Certified Safety Professional in 2012.
Brandon VanderVoort
Area Manager
Brandon VanderVoort joined Discovery as Area Manager in 2021. Prior to joining Discovery, Mr. VanderVoort served as Completions Superintendent for SM Energy, working their Texas asset. Mr. VanderVoort began his career as a Production Operator with Howell Petroleum, and over the last 25 years has held roles of increasing responsibility with Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Chesapeake, and SM Energy.
Bradley Pottebaum
Reservoir Engineering Manager
Bradley Pottebaum, Discovery’s Reservoir Engineering Manager, joined the Company in 2012. Mr. Pottebaum has held various roles in completions and development throughout his tenure at Discovery, including Completions Manager and Resource Development Manager. Prior to joining Discovery, Mr. Pottebaum was a completions engineer and field consultant for Peterson Energy Management. Mr. Pottebaum started his career with Halliburton as a field engineer, and has over 16 years of industry experience. Mr. Pottebaum holds a BS in Manufacturing from Iowa State University and is pursuing a Master of Business Administration, also from Iowa State University.
Gary Bajgier
Geoscience Manager
Gary Bajgier joined Discovery in 2021 as Geoscience Manager. Prior to joining Discovery, Mr. Bajgier held various Geoscience Management positions at Southwestern Energy, where he was responsible for development planning and operations. Additionally, Mr. Bajgier has worked as a domestic and international Geologist at Newfield Exploration, Virginia Indonesia, Tenneco Oil, and several smaller companies. Mr. Bajgier has experience in multiple basins, including the Permian, Appalachian, Arkoma, Gulf Coast, Kutai and Anadarko. Mr. Bajgier holds a BS in Geological Engineering from Michigan Technological University and a Master of Business Administration from University of St. Thomas in Houston.
Austin Bridwell
Senior IT Manager
Austin Bridwell joined Discovery in 2014, and currently serves as Senior IT Manager, overseeing Information Technology, Cybersecurity, and Technology Infrastructure. Mr. Bridwell has held various roles during his tenure at Discovery, including Business Applications Manager. Mr. Bridwell holds a BS in Economics and a Master of Business Administration, both from Viriginia Tech.
Jenny Seskar
Senior Manager, Human Resources
Jenny Seskar, Discovery’s Senior Manager of Human Resources, has been with the Company since 2013. Throughout her tenure at Discovery, Ms. Seskar has served in roles of increasing responsibility within the Human Resources Department, and currently oversees compensation, benefits, payroll, and employee relations. Ms. Seskar began her career at Delta Petroleum, and has over 15 years of HR experience, primarily in the oil and gas industry. Ms. Seskar holds a BS in Organizational Communication from Ohio University.
