Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.

Reporting to the Control Room Supervisor, the Control Room Operator position will support the overall monitoring of maintenance of the field operations to ensure that everything is working properly, and prioritized items are handled in a timely fashion.  This position will watch closely to identify any abnormal operating and equipment conditions.  This position carries a large range of duties and must be able to adapt and adjust to the needs of operational strategies at any given point in time.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Central point of contact for all field operations, especially in emergency situations
  • Continuously monitors horizontal and vertical facilities to help Lease Operators pump by exception
  • Monitors the operation of emissions control equipment and adjusts it to meet State and Federal Guidelines
  • Monitors alarms and oil call-ins
  • Order trucks for water dispatch and coordinate with water haulers to ensure water is hauled in a timely manner
  • When abnormalities are detected, troubleshoot, or repair the issue to minimize safety risks and economic losses by delegating to/informing Production Department personnel
  • Utilizes SCADA to drive maintenance and efficiency
  • Utilizes Automation to monitor SWD and water transfer activity
  • Ability to operate various switches, control devices, and valves, and knowledge of the effects each has on total operations
  • Dispatch the Operator to the well when problems occur
  • Direct oil trucks when the need arises
  • Monitors GPS as needed to ensure safety of personnel in the field
  • Follow up with each group/individual after dispatching until issues have been resolved
  • Provide daily updates via email and/or Teams to Foremen regarding issues that have occurred and resolutions taken; electronically log status of events
  • Works a 7 and 7 12hr rotating shift; required to communicate activity in the current shift to the next shift

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of Lease Operating experience; both vertical and horizontal wells
  • Previous Control Room Operating experience preferred
  • High School Diploma

  • Strong aptitude in math; ability to use addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to perform flow, pressure, performance, and meter calculations

  • Experience with computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Production Accounting software, SCADA, Camera systems etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Production, Completion and Workover
  • Knowledge of Rod Pump, Plunger, ESP and Gas Lift Systems

*Work is performed in a normal office setting, requiring long periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional field travel required.
