Facilities Engineer

Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.

This position participates in facilities engineering projects and provides engineering support for ongoing operations. This position is responsible for the delivery of all expected facilities engineering responsibilities for the assigned areas.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering design and assist in construction overview of new well site facilities, pipelines, compression, dehydration and processing facilities (including design of gas and produced water handling facilities, low pressure gathering systems, compressor stations, high-pressure pipelines, and treating facilities (dehydration, sweetening, NGLs), water treating systems, and SWD plants)
  • Provide ongoing facilities engineering support for well site facilities, pipelines, compression, dehydration and processing facilities
  • Coordinate with HSE, Regulatory, Supply Chain and Production staff to ensure regulation compliance and safety
  • Lead project P&ID and PHA developments
  • Assist in the adherence of a company Process Safety Management Program
  • Evaluate and recommend solutions for difficult problems
  • Hands-on field support at times to troubleshoot operating problems
  • Develop ideas to improve efficiency and reduce expenses
  • Lead the efforts in cost estimates and project schedules to successfully achieve facilities production goals
  • Assess options and make recommendations that meet the Company’s needs and development strategies
  • Participate in AFE cost estimates, bid preparation, and overall project management of assigned projects

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or combination of related field experience and / or education
  • Minimum 7 years progressive oil and gas production/facilities experience in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment

Skills and Knowledge

  • Commitment to Discovery Natural Resources expectations and core values.
  • Software modeling experience with Pipeline Studio or other Pipeline Modeling programs a plus
  • Software modeling experience with Promax or other Process modeling programs a plus
  • Siteview experience a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Highly organized, detail oriented and creative; able to handle multiple tasks and achieve necessary results in a timely manner
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
  • Ability to understand and perform project economic analysis
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Project
  • Knowledge of software applications as they relate to pipeline and production operations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe work behavior and habits
  • Valid driver’s license with no restrictions

Compensation and Benefits

  • Estimated pay range: $160,000 – $220,000  (depending upon experience of the successful candidate)

*Most of the job is done in an office setting. Field travel required 10% – 15%; adverse weather conditions may exist. Variable work hours including nights and weekends.
