Field Chemical Specialist

Discovery Natural Resources LLC (DNR) is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.

The Chemical Field Specialist role involves managing chemical-related issues, maintaining chemical equipment, and ensuring optimal chemical usage in production and completion processes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Models and communicates Discovery’s core values and safe work expectations to all vendors working in the field.
  • Follows and supports all Discovery HSE policies.
  • Serve as the field operations point of contact for all chemical-related issues, liaising between chemical vendors and Discovery.
  • Address and resolve chemical-related issues or direct them to the appropriate personnel at Discovery.
  • Manage all production chemical processes, including repair and installation of chemical pumps.
  • Maintain inventory of parts, new pumps, and track data on pump repairs.
  • Approve chemical invoices and ensure accurate billing.
  • Collaborate with field staff to review monthly data and follow up on tasks generated from reports.
  • Host monthly chemical reviews with vendors and the chemical team, as well as weekly team meetings.
  • Ensure proper and timely chemical hookup for all new wells.
  • Maintain chemical inventory levels to prevent tank depletion and ensure chemicals are pumped as recommended.
  • Manage the maintenance, installation, and monitoring of chemical automation equipment.
  • Manages vendor well sampling and analysis through coupon, water, oil, residual, and ATP testing.
  • Supervise and treat paraffin-related issues on producing wells.
  • Work with vendors to treat rejected oil tanks.

Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage chemical-related field operations, ensuring optimal chemical usage and compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and implement improvement plans for team members.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate records and following all company-related policies.
  • Foster cross-departmental collaboration to ensure seamless integration of chemical field activities with overall operations.
  • Provide technical support and leadership during field emergency events, ensuring timely and effective resolution.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in one of the physical sciences (e.g., Chemistry, Biology) preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of production chemical experience.
  • Lease operating or other field experience is a plus.
