Measurement Technician
Discovery Natural Resources LLC (DNR) is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.
Under supervision of the Measurement Foreman, the Measurement Technician is responsible for a variety of tasks involved in troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, repairing, and operating various natural gas and crude oil flow measurement equipment and devices. Responsible for operation and maintenance of flow computers, measurement software, and communication devices. Follows industry and regulatory compliance standards, makes repairs, maintains accurate records, and follows all company-related policies.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintains records to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory agencies.
- Troubleshoot, repair, configure and/or calibrate
- Controllers, indicators, process analyzers, etc.
- Control valves, positioners, transducers, and any other part necessary to the operation of the valve.
- ABB Total Flow XRC and RMC installation and configuration for gas measurement, system control and ESD.
- Various types of sensors including flow, pressure, level, and temperature, H2S and O2.
- Control wiring, flow computers, communication devices, and measurement software packages.
- Liquid meters to include turbines, mag and Coriolis
- Removes, dismantles, cleans, maintains, and assembles instruments and replaces defective components.
- Monitors daily meter downloads.
- Witness meter calibrations of sales gas and oil (LACT) meters.
- Witness sample draws for gas and oil sales systems.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 5 years of experience in oil and gas industry in either the upstream or midstream

- Self-starter, able to perform duties with minimal supervision
- Requires ability to adapt to fluctuating work schedule, i.e. frequent overtime; off duty call outs; varied work schedule
- Ability to recognize changes and potential problems; exercise independent thinking to solve problems
- Strong communication skills with ability to work in team environment
- Basic math skills and computer knowledge
- Valid driver license and good driving record
*Majority of work will be outdoors under variable weather conditions. May require occasional lifting of heavy objects. Physical ability to perform routine maintenance on oil and gas wells as required.
