Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.
This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer and support other areas of the organization.
Primary Responsibilities
- Managing the company’s financial model used to project financial results and key metrics as part of the annual budget and periodic reforecast processes.
- Working with senior management in Operations, Engineering and Geology in the collection, validation and approval of key inputs into financial forecasts.
- Providing complex financial analysis to assist in strategic decision making related to drilling programs, capital allocation and A&D valuation.
- Complete commodity hedging activities and maintain key relationships.
- Primary contact for syndicated bank group.
- Preparing periodic financial reports presented to Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
- Working closely with the Accounting, Operations, and Engineering departments to provide timely and accurate information in order to facilitate operational and financial analysis.
- Monitoring public peer companies for industry best practices and establishing benchmarks to measure company performance.
- Identifying, compiling, analyzing and presenting operational data for calculating key metrics and ratios for comparison to industry benchmarks.
- Assisting with managing and tracking the company’s rolling commodity hedge program.
- Leveraging systems to automate and facilitate reporting and analysis.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting
- MBA, advanced degree or professional certification (CFA, CPA) preferred
- At least 8 years of related experience in financial analysis/reporting or investment analysis.
- Oil and gas experience required.

Compensation and Benefits
- Estimated pay range: $230,000 – $260,000 (depending on experience of the successful candidate)
