Senior Landman
Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.
The Senior Landman performs all phases of land work, from leasing through completion and production, including the negotiation and drafting of all related contractual agreements with third parties. This position manages final approval of title opinions and documentation related to Discovery’s drilling program.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze, negotiate and draft various types of agreements including oil and gas leases, lease purchase agreements, farmouts, farmins, and joint operating agreements
- Negotiate and acquire interests in land for rights of way for well sites, pipelines, power lines, water storage ponds, roads and other surface uses
- Understand and procure drilling and division order title opinions and run sheets
- Perform due diligence for acquisition of leasehold and producing properties
- Manage relationships with landowners
- Prepare maps, presentations and miscellaneous data requests
- Maintain and review rental/lease expiration deadlines
- Manage contractors and field brokers.
Education and Experience
- Minimum eight years’ professional Land experience with five years as an in-house company landman
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Energy Management or PLM degree preferred
- Proven experience in negotiating and drafting various land-related agreements
- Permian Basin experience preferred
- Member of AAPL with CPL designation preferred

Compensation and Benefits
- Estimated pay range: $140,000 – $180,000 (depending on experience of the successful candidate)
